1970 (Telstar — Adidas): The iconic black-and-white ball. 32 panels (12 pentagons, 20 hexagons). Designed for maximum visibility on black-and-white TV. The truncated icosahedron shape became the universal symbol of football. Adidas began its World Cup ball monopoly.
1974 (Telstar Durlast): West Germany. Same design but polyurethane coating for water resistance. The first ball with FIFA approval for official matches.
